About MasterMan
MasterMan is a free education platform built for students across Maharashtra — and anyone who believes learning should never depend on a family’s budget. Our motto is simple: Affordable Education for All.
What we do
We bring high-quality, exam-aligned study material and honest guidance together in one free, no-sign-up place:
- MHT-CET preparation — interactive chapter tests, full practice papers and previous-year paper links.
- Class 12 Science — available previous-year Maharashtra board question papers in an in-browser viewer.
- Engineering branch guidance and University of Mumbai / SPPU syllabus PDFs.
- Free CAP-round counselling with a personalised, cutoff-wise college list.
- Interview preparation — aptitude tests, DSA and a product-company roadmap.
Who runs MasterMan
MasterMan is run by a small team of engineering graduates and educators from Maharashtra who have personally been through the MHT-CET and CAP admission process. We share what actually worked for us — and correct what did not — through this website and our free YouTube channel.
How content is reviewed
Pages are published under the visible “MasterMan editorial team” byline unless a named author is shown. We check internal links, question structure and answer keys before publishing, distinguish official facts from our own practice formats, and add a “last reviewed” date when a substantive review is completed. We do not invent author credentials. Read the full editorial, sourcing and corrections policy.
How our counselling recommendations are made
Our college shortlists are generated from official CAP cutoff data, matched against your MHT-CET percentile, category and preferences. We never sell seats, take referral money from colleges, or promise guaranteed admission — the guidance is transparent and data-driven.
Why we built this
Maharashtra sends more than four lakh students into the MHT-CET each year, and the great majority of them are the first person in their family to attempt a competitive engineering entrance. What we noticed, having been through it ourselves, is that the information gap costs these students more than the knowledge gap does.
A student in a metro with an elder sibling already in engineering knows things that never make it into any official document: that the percentile is normalised across multiple shifts rather than being a raw mark, that CAP round two behaves quite differently from round one, that a freeze decision cannot be undone, that the institute-level round exists at all. A student in a smaller town with no such contact learns these things by getting them wrong once. Coaching classes fill this gap and charge somewhere between forty thousand and two lakh rupees for it, which puts it out of reach for exactly the families who need it most.
None of that information is secret. It is just scattered across PDF notifications, forum threads and word of mouth. Gathering it in one place, in plain language, and giving it away costs us very little and saves a student a great deal — which is the entire argument for this site.
What we publish
The site has four kinds of page, and we think it is worth being explicit about which is which, because they carry different levels of authority.
- Official information — syllabus, exam pattern, marking scheme, eligibility, important dates. We summarise these from State CET Cell and DTE Maharashtra notifications and link to the source. Where our summary and the official document disagree, the official document is correct, and we say so on every such page.
- Practice material — our full-length papers, chapter-wise tests, aptitude sets and DSA quizzes. These are practice formats built by us in the pattern of the real exam. They are not previous years' official papers unless a page states that explicitly.
- Guidance and explainers — how CAP works, how to choose a branch, how to read a cutoff table. This is judgement rather than fact, informed by our own experience and by the students we have helped, and we try to write it that way rather than as if it were settled.
- Counselling support — the shortlisting described above.
How we pay for it
The site carries advertising, and that is the whole of our revenue model for the free material. We think students are entitled to know how a free service funds itself, so: we do not take money from colleges, we do not receive a commission on any admission, and no institution has ever paid to appear in a shortlist or be described favourably. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies, not buried in a policy document.
Advertising is an imperfect model and we are aware it has costs for you as a reader. We keep ad density low, we do not use interstitials that block the page, and we do not place advertising inside a test while you are attempting it.
Where we can get things wrong
Two categories deserve particular caution from you as a reader.
The first is dates and procedural details. State CET Cell revises schedules, and occasionally the structure of the process itself, at short notice. We update as quickly as we can, but there will be windows where a page here is behind the official notification. Before any decision with a deadline attached, check the official site.
The second is cutoffs. Our shortlists are built on previous years' closing percentiles, and previous years do not predict this year exactly. The number of applicants moves, seat matrices change, new institutes are added and reservation policies are revised. Treat a shortlist as a sensible starting set of options to research, never as a prediction of where you will get in.
If you find an error anywhere on the site, tell us and we will fix it. Our corrections policy describes how we handle this, including when we mark a correction visibly on the page rather than quietly editing it.
Our promise
- Always free — no paywalls, no hidden charges.
- Honest — no fake reviews, no “guaranteed admission” claims.
- Student-first — content written for learners and parents, in simple language.
- Clear about what we do not know — we would rather tell you a question is genuinely uncertain than give you a confident answer we cannot stand behind.
